Senior Patent Attorney (5+ PQE) | Birmingham | Hybrid Working
I’m currently partnering with a growing and highly regarded IP practice that is looking to appoint an experienced Patent Attorney into its Birmingham office. They work with a wide range of clients across the UK, focussing on managing their intellectual property rights.
This is a senior-level opportunity offering real autonomy, client ownership and a clear pathway towards partnership for the right individual.
The Opportunity
You will inherit an existing portfolio of clients while also being supported to develop your own practice and, in time, build a team around you.
The role would suit a UK and European qualified Patent Attorney, with experience across a broad technical spectrum.
Your work will include:
Drafting and filing new UK and European patent applications
Managing UK, EP and international prosecution (including working with overseas associates)
Conducting freedom-to-operate reviews and providing strategic opinions
Advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio development
Supporting businesses in strengthening their in-house IP processes
Collaborating with legal and commercial colleagues to deliver joined-up IP and wider professional services
Playing an active role in business development, networking and pitching for new work

Skills required:
Qualification as a UK and European Patent Attorney
5+ years’ post-qualification experience
Extensive direct client experience, including drafting and prosecution
Confident communication skills and commercial awareness
Experience managing patent portfolios
