As Head of Private Client, you will take strategic ownership of the department, leading a talented team while shaping its long-term direction and success. You will play a key role in driving growth, maintaining technical excellence, and delivering outstanding client service.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Leading, mentoring and inspiring a dedicated Private Client team

  • Managing and overseeing a complex caseload including Wills, Probate, Trusts, LPAs, Inheritance Tax planning, and Court of Protection matters

  • Acting as the senior technical authority on high-value and complex cases

  • Developing and delivering a clear departmental growth strategy

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships and professional networks

  • Overseeing compliance, quality assurance, and optimising case management systems

  • Monitoring performance metrics including fee income, budgets, and KPIs

  • Playing an active role in recruitment, training, and succession planning

About you:

  • An experienced Private Client Solicitor with 10+ years PQE (STEP or SFE membership preferred)

  • Proven experience leading or managing a Private Client team

  • Strong technical expertise across Wills, Trusts, Probate, IHT planning, LPAs, and CoP

  • Commercially minded with a demonstrable track record of driving growth and profitability

  • A natural leader with the ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire others

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to implement systems and processes that enhance service delivery
